Terms for using Ramadan Lights Gent, submissions, partners and donations.

These terms apply to your use of ramadanlights.be and to submissions (e.g. iftar/mosque/partner) and donations made through the website.

1. Who we are

Ramadan Lights Gent is a digital platform operated/managed by:

Important – ownership of the software (source code)
The underlying software and source code of ramadanlights.be were developed by volunteer developer(s) in a personal capacity. Copyright in that software remains with the original author(s) unless a written assignment has been agreed. VGM acts as the platform operator and holds only a (non‑exclusive) licence to host, maintain and evolve the website for this project.

2. Acceptance

By visiting or using the website, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms.

3. Using the website

You may use the website for personal and non-commercial purposes, unless agreed otherwise (e.g. sponsorship/partnership).

You agree not to:

  • submit unlawful or misleading content,
  • disrupt or attempt to disrupt the website,
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or data.

4. Information and content

We aim to keep information (locations, timings, activities, iftars, etc.) accurate and up to date, but:

  • information may be incomplete or incorrect,
  • dates/times can change (e.g. organisers update schedules),
  • map and route information is indicative.

The website is therefore informational. Always verify important details with the organiser.

5. Submissions (iftars, mosques, activities, partners)

When you submit information, you confirm that:

  • you have the rights to share the information, text and images,
  • the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge,
  • you do not share personal data of third parties without a valid legal basis.

We reserve the right to moderate, edit, refuse or remove submissions (e.g. if incomplete, abusive, infringing or not relevant).

By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and display the submitted content on ramadanlights.be and in communications about the project (e.g. social posts), where relevant.

6. Donations

Donations are voluntary contributions to support the project.

  • Payments are processed via a secure payment page of our payment provider (e.g. Mollie).
  • Unless required by law, donations are generally non-refundable.
  • We may refuse or refund a donation in case of suspected fraud, abuse or errors (e.g. duplicate payment), in coordination with the payment provider.

7. Partners/Sponsors – applications and payments

If you become a partner/sponsor:

  • you enter into a cooperation with VGM/the Project under the selected package,
  • payments (if any) are processed via the available payment method (e.g. Mollie),
  • we will provide the agreed visibility (e.g. listing/logo) within a reasonable time after confirmation/approval and receipt of payment, unless agreed otherwise.

We may refuse applications (e.g. for abuse, incompatibility with the project or incomplete information).

8. Intellectual property

The website and its components are protected by intellectual property rights.

  • Website content (texts, photos, logos, marks): belongs to VGM and/or the respective rightsholders, unless stated otherwise.
  • Software and source code: copyright remains with the original developer(s)/rightsholders. The fact that VGM operates the platform does not imply a transfer of these rights. VGM only has a (non‑exclusive) licence to host, maintain and evolve the website for this project.

Without prior permission (and subject to legal exceptions), you may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse‑engineer or reuse any part of the website.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages or loss of data,
  • we are not liable for errors in information provided by third parties,
  • we are not liable for outages of external services (e.g. maps or payment providers).

Our liability is in any case limited to the amount you may have paid for a specific service (if applicable).

10. Third-party links

The website may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. directions, partner websites). We are not responsible for their content or policies.

11. Privacy and cookies

Our privacy policy and cookie policy form an integral part of these terms.

12. Changes

We may change these terms. The “last updated” date indicates when changes were last made.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Belgian law. Any disputes fall under the competent courts of the judicial district where VGM is established, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
